Legendary home of the 'lotus eaters' and Ulysses himself, the sun-drenched island of Djerba has mile upon mile of unspoiled beaches lapped by the clear blue waters of the southern Mediterranean.

They usually include the troglodyte village of Matmata that featured in the original Star Wars film, the remote Berber community at Cheninni where the houses are hollowed out of the hillside and the spectacular curious-shaped granaries around Medenine.
