Hammamet, the 'garden resort', has dozen of low rise hotels, shops and restaurants set along miles of golden beach and surrounded by fragrant bougainvillea flowers. To the south, Yasmine Hammamet aims to recreate the style and atmosphere of the French Riviera with wide boulevards and sophisticated pavement cafes. To the north, Nabeul offers an authentic view of the art of pottery and ceramics. Visitors can watch as the potter's wheel spins out a work of art and admire the range of talents of these artisans who create the modern and sophisticated with the same definite touch as the traditional Tunisian ceramics.
All types of water sports are available in Hammamet and Nabeul, including windsurfing and scuba diving. On dry land, horse riding and quad biking are also popular. Many people visit Hammamet for its golf courses, which can challenge even the most experimented players. For the less sporty, relaxing thalassotherapy (sea-water based beauty treatment) is available at the Royal Azur and Hasdrubal hotels
