Monastir is a thriving costal town with clean white sandy beaches and a heritage that dates back many centuries. It also has the advantage of being the nearest resort to Tunisia's main charter airport.
The marina has become a welcome haven for yachtsmen who moor their boats there during the winter months. As well as diving and all the usual water sports, it is also possible to go sea fishing or take a boat trip to the deserted kuriat Islands just off the coast. Horse and camel riding are popular with families and Monastir is home to two golf courses : the 18 hole 72-par Flamingo and Palm Links courses.
