The vibrant resort of Sousse has something for everyone: a wide stretch of golden beach, cosmopolitan cafes and restaurants, lively nightlife and historic sight of interest. Six miles up the road is Port El Kantaoui, a quieter resort built around a picturesque marina and particularly popular with families and couples.
Port El Kantaoui has a well kept 36 hole golf courses and, like Sousse, offers extensive watersports, tennis and riding, as well as the opportunity to go sailing or fishing. Have a flutter in the Caraïbe casino at Sousse, enjoy a drink at Bonepartes pub or dance the night away in Tunisia's largest nightclub, the Maracana.
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a frank Sinatra, there's even a karaoke bar in Sousse . For the best shopping the Medina in Sousse has it all : spices, leather goods, handmade ceramics, jewellery and carpets - the list is endless.
An hour drive from Sousse, discover Kairouan "the city of 50 mosques" . The spiritual home of all Tunisians, the city itself rises like a dream of ocher and tawny beige, serene in its 13 centuries of Islamic culture, authentic and proud of the wondrous beauty of its mosques, the symphony of its columns and arches, the exquisite delicacy of the stone work. The towering and sober dignity of the Great Mosque seems to embody the spirituality that has inspired artists and poets from its creation until the present day.
